We normally attend Grace Community Church, where Caden will be going to VBS (part 2) in July. However, a friend invited Caden to attend VBS at First Mennonite this week. Yesterday, to no surprise, he was very upset about being in a room full of strange adults and children and none too happy when Mommy left. He settled down and today had to be dropped off by my friend Christie which he did without complaint. His teacher said he did much better today and he even smiled! The highlight of his 6 hours of VBS experience so far is singing in the "big church" as he calls it. First Mennonite has a traditional sanctuary with wooden pews in rows, very different from Grace which is more open with individual chairs. Caden loves the "big church"!
Side, yet related note ~ at our house we must refer to VBS as Kids' Church in front of a certain little boy. He opposes all things to do with the word 'school' except pointing out where mommy's schools are and where his babysitter's son, Jordan, goes to school. When we ask him if he wants to go school, we usually hear, "No way!!" Makes us glad we opted to stay at Becci's full time for the fall and simultaneously makes me dread having to tell him next year, he's going to preschool no matter what. Public education is compulsory is this house!!

And how excited are you to help teach the 3 year olds "Kids Church" in July?! At least we know our boys won't be sad and crying. It could be a long week, though. :)
