where does he get it?

Caden asks me this afternoon, "How the M&M's get on the package, Mommy?'' (poor grammar; great question) I have only a vague answer for him . . . a special machine prints the M&M's on the paper. How does he think of this?? And how lame is my answer?!? I'm might have to do some research on this delicious thought! :)

As were driving home from Wichita tonight, Caden pipes up from the back seat, "Daddy, Mommy, listen . . .bite and fight . . . . . . . . . . . they rhyme. How does he know this?? I've been wanting to teach him how to rhyme words, but hadn't yet. This leads to a long litany of all the rhyming words we can think of. I must say, Caden definitely "gets it". Maybe, I'm a little too anxious about our boy being ready for Kindergarten.

Quotes by Caden

As we're brushing his teeth tonight out of nowhere . . ."Mommy, I only like blue and green. . . . . . . .and red . . . . . . . . .and yellow. . . . .and pink and grey."

As Doug and I are playing Candy Land with him before bed tonight, showing his fierce competitive side (no idea where that came from!), "I'ma gonna win you, Mommy!" which he did and was not shy about rubbing it in a bit.

When I suggested to Doug that perhaps Caden needed a new board game or two for his upcoming birthday, with his head cocked to the side sort of snotty like and with all the attitude any self-respecting 14-year old would have, "Ye-ahhh!" ~almost 4 going on 14

pink eye

Yesterday morning, Caden woke up with what I initially thought was a lot of "sleep" in his eyes. As the day wore on and we kept wiping gunk out of both eyes every 30-60 minutes, we began to suspect that perhaps Caden had pink eye. Caden and Stayed home today and saw the PA in his pediatrician's office (who is the sister of one of the teachers I work with at Slate Creek, Kristi). Jill (the PA) was awesome with Caden and diagnosed him with pink eye, prescribed an antibiotic eye drop, suggested giving him FluMist (the nasal inhaled flu prevention) and to make her the best in Caden's opinion and mine, gave him some Smarties to keep him busy while she examined him.

Caden did great with the FluMist and his eyes are improving this evening.

On the growth side of things, Caden is definitely succeeding! In August he was 41.5 inches tall and 41 pounds. Today he was 44 inches and 43 pounds. Who grows 2.5 inches in 2 months??? And who eats like a horse on steroids and only gains a measly 2 pounds??? Answer: Caden!!
