I rise at 6:00 a.m. to shower and dress and prepare Caden for spending the day and night with Cane Papa and Grandma.
6:45 We leave our house and drop Caden off with my parents.
7:00 We're on the road to Norman, OK. After a quick breakfast in Wichita at Golden Corral (yummy breakfast buffet!) and pit stop at Quik-Trip, we're off!
The drive to Norman is long in my opinion (3.5 hours and I hate riding in the car!) But we saw many crazy OU fans along the way and sang ourselves hoarse!
If you haven't figured it out, we spent our Saturday afternoon and early evening here . . .
in section 3, row 22, seats 11 and 12, watching the Sooners take on and defeat the KU Jayhawks 45-31! Go Sooners! (sorry mom, your Hawks were tough, but not quite tough enough!) I must say that it was difficult to cheer against the Jayhawks whom I've been taught to root for since birth and would typically NEVER root against, but in order to preserve my life on the OU side of the stadium and remain happily married, I felt compelled to root for the Sooners on Saturday. We had a great time!! It was my first live big college football experience. That atmosphere and noise were amazing as 85, 241 people (which is the 3rd largest game attendance on record for OU) rocked Owen Field.
My favorite highlights: 1) seeing the Boomer Schooner 2) seeing Mark Mangino (he's huge!!), Bob Stoops, Sam Bradford, and Todd Reesing up close 3) seeing Toby Keith!!! He's a big OU fan and was on the OU sideline for the 1st half. It took Doug awhile to actually convince me it was Toby Keith! 4) the oblivious cam which shows fans who aren't really paying attention to the fact that their being shown live on the jumbotron screen; very funny what people do when they think so one's watching!!
My only complaint is that televised games can at times be very slow in person.
