Mother's Day 2008 was a peaceful full family affair. Doug, Caden, and I plus both sets of our parents and Tim (Doug's brother), Melissa, and our niece Tegan went to Camp Hawk for a cookout and a bit of fishing after church. The food was awesome and Caden and Tegan were very cute fishing. The highlight of the fishing part was catching a big bull frog. Tegan in all her boldness was willing to touch and pet the frog and was nearly convinced to kiss him, but stopped herself declaring that was gross! Caden, considerably less daring than his cousin, wouldn't even touch the frog despite the coaxing from Daddy, uncle Tim, and truck Grandma.
My men surprised me this year with a bracelet with the word Mom on it and a beautiful new jewelry box. They were lovely and totally unexpected! The best kind of gifts! Caden, with the help of the most wonderful woman who takes care of Caden during the day, Becci, made me a photo frame with his picture inside. Caden decorated it himself. Becci interviewed each of the kids about the things they loved about their mommy and wrote their responses on the back of the frame. Precious and tear-jerking! I am setting modesty aside here for a moment to share Caden's thoughts about the things he loves about his mommy in his own words . . . mom is sweet; she takes care of me; she's pretty; I love her hugs and kisses; she's nice; she reads me books. How could a mother not fall in love all over again after reading those things about her from the heart of her child. I love you, peanut pie!
To all the mothers we know, love, respect, and admire . . .Happy Mother's Day!! We hope you had a wonderful day!
