Lilttle Man's thoughts

As we're driving home tonight (much too late for a 3 year old), Caden says in the sweetest voice, "Mommy, do you see the moon?" I said that I did see the moon, which was partially covered by some clouds. Caden then says sleepily, "It's a little bit dirty. It should take a bath." I guess he thought that becuase the moon was not not shining as brightly due to the cloud cover that is was "dirty". I just love the things he thinks and talks about.

It was exactly what I needed to hear at the end of the very long, emotionally and physically draining week at home and school.

changes

With great difficulty and much thought , discussion, tears, and prayer Doug and I have decided to enroll Caden at Newton Medical Center Child Care starting next Monday. Unfortunately, it was not a good fit for Caden at Jessi's. We are hopeful that the new child care setting will be good for him. Caden will be in a class of 10 and will be getting preschool curriculum.

rough day

Caden had a rough start this morning at Jessi's house. He was EXTREMELY upset about me leaving him and through a major temper tantrum which inlcuded hitting and kicking Jessi. Not good. Very depressing and upsetting for mom and dad! Very worried about what Jessi thinks of us as parents and hoping Caden adjusts well and quickly!!

On a positive note, Jessi did tell me that once Caden calmed down, he was fine the rest of the day and ate lunch and napped well. Hopefully, this morning's incident was a one time deal. Please pray for us. We have to get through this. I really like Jessi and the way she operates the daycare!

healthy and ready to go

I took Caden to his new pediatrician, Dr. Roberts today for quick check-up before his new daycare begins on Wednesday. She was very nice and reports that Caden is healthy and tall. He was 41.5 inches and 41 pounds. Caden did have to get a Hepatitis A booster shot, but he laid right down for the nurse and didn't move or cry at all when she jabbed the needle in his thigh. The nurse and I were both surprised and impressed! (I was also a wee bit proud of my big boy!) So with the healthy check-up and clean teeth from last week, Caden is ready to begin daycare with Jessi.

first dentist appointment

We took Caden to the dentist for the first time today. The receptionist and I have been playing phone tag all summer trying to coordinate a time to get Caden in, but it seems like they only have cancellations when I'm out of town.

Anyway, we've been practicing with Caden to open his mouth on command and explaining what the hygienist and dentist were going to do. Caden got in the exam room and I sat him in the chair. The hygienist was very kind and patient with him and carefully explained what she was going to do and why she had to wear a mask and gloves. Then we took some photos of his first trip to the dentist. He did great through all of this and then the hygienist laid the chair back and Caden got nervous, but stayed still and quiet. Then she turned on the polisher and he lost it. I expected the hygienist to be frustrated, but she reassured Doug and me that many first timers don't get through an entire cleaning. She suggested we stop and just have Dr. Davidson do a visual exam to check for bite problems and cavities. So Dr. Davidson came in and did just that which Caden cooperated quite well with. He was rewarded with a new bright yellow toothbrush and some sparkly children's toothpaste. Caden was also quite proud of himself! We survived Caden's first trip to the dentist even though he spent a mere 7 and half minutes in the exam room. We don't have to go back for 6 months and Caden got a good report on his teeth, no cavities!! YEAH!

Caden happily opening up wide, just like we practiced!

Getting nervous at the sight and sound of the polisher, just before freaking out!

Proud new owner of a toothbrush and toothpaste!

I'm back in Kansas!

I got home very late last night from Tahoe. I have lots of pictures and stories to post about which I will do tomorrow morning before I take Caden for his first dentist appointment and then to the McPherson water park with some friends. Still recovering from little sleep, a late night, traveling, and the 2 hour time change, so I'm headed to bed now. More tomorrow about the trip to Tahoe.

Golf

Sarah's gone to Cali livin' it up. That means one thing for Caden and I.........MORE GOLF!!!!!!!!!!! So that's what we did tonight. We went to the old Newton public golf course just off the interstate and played nine holes. We went with his PaPa, Uncle Tim and cuz Tegan. He practiced hitting his ball off the tee box at every hole with the club papa bought for him this summer. He's getting pretty good for only being 3. Which is exactly how I normally play....like I am 3. I am not a good golfer. On nine holes I normally score between 48-52 but not tonight.
I played the best golf ever, at least for me. I ended up at 39. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway Tim and I are playing again tomorrow and I am sure I'll make up for it by scoring about 60. I'll let you know.
